North Central Utility (NCU) is looking for a self-motivated and results driven Service Writer / Shop Foreman, to represent NCU in the semi-trailer service industry.
North Central Utility is one of the largest semi-trailer dealerships in the nation and the largest in the North Central region with 10 locations throughout Wisconsin, Minnesota and North Dakota. We offer reefer, dry van and flatbed trailers from Utility Trailer Manufacturing at all locations and vocational trailers from MAC Trailers in Wisconsin - we sell new and used semi-trailers. With Moore Space, we offer temporary storage container solutions as well. Our parts department has an extensive inventory in Heavy-Duty Truck/Tractor and Trailer parts. Our broad product line and geographic coverage ensures we are a “One Stop Shop” for truck and semi-trailer parts. Our service department offers everything from routine maintenance, certified DOT inspections to precision laser alignment, as well as complete wreck repair for trailers of all makes and models. No job is too big or too small for our skilled service technicians.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist service manager in department operation
• Assist in overseeing service technicians
• Assist manager in managing all shop repair orders
• Assist in staff training using industry best practices
• Liaise between parts, sales & service as needed
• Educate the customer on NCU services
• Assist wherever needed in department
• Accurate and timely completion of reports
• Work on trailer repairs as needed
• Identify customer needs and opportunities for upselling
• Estimating and quoting
• Motivate & lead through team excellence and work ethic
• Strong negotiation & leadership skills
• Promote and build relationships with team members and customers
• Initiate and process invoices
• Promote safety-first workplace
• Assist warranty administration
• Assist Service Manager as needed
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred
• Previous experience required
• Computer skills
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Leadership experience preferred
• Forklift experience preferred
• Welding or fabrication experience preferred
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to the ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, twist, reach overhead, stoop, squat repetitively and for long periods of time
